“In Between Conversations” is based on a photograph I took during a family dinner in 2023. It captures one of those completely ordinary moments that doesn’t feel important while you’re in it, but somehow becomes meaningful when you look back.
I painted it in 2024 and spent about two months working on it. It was the largest painting I had made at the time, and it became the first piece that really made me feel like I could be an artist.
A lot of my work explores the feeling of pre-nostalgia, realizing you’re living in a moment you’ll probably miss one day, before it’s even over.
Oil on canvas
30 × 48 inches, framed
