About
I’m a Canadian artist based in Barrie, Ontario.
My work begins with photography, moments I’ve captured while traveling or in everyday life, and evolves into oil paintings that hold onto a feeling rather than just a scene. These references act as a starting point, but the final painting is less about accuracy and more about interpretation.
I’m drawn to quiet, in-between moments, dimly lit interiors, late nights, and conversations that linger. There’s something about these spaces that feels both familiar and fleeting. I’m less interested in recreating an image exactly, and more focused on how light, color, and atmosphere can shift the experience of it.
I work with a limited palette and a loose, painterly approach, allowing details to dissolve and reappear depending on distance. Up close, the paintings break into brushstrokes and fragments of color. From afar, they come together into something more cohesive and recognizable. That push and pull between abstraction and realism is an important part of the work.
Each painting becomes a way of holding onto a moment, not exactly as it was, but as it was experienced. I paint what I see, but I’m always chasing how it felt to be there.
